ICHR Sponsored National Seminar

Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Adarsha Mahavidyalaya, Dalgaon, successfully organised a Two-Day National Seminar on 29–30 June 2026 on the theme “Traditions of Resistance and Voices of Freedom: Revisiting the Northeast’s Contribution to India’s Struggle for Independence.” The seminar was sponsored by the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR), New Delhi, under its Financial Assistance for Organising Seminars/Conferences scheme. The seminar was conceived with the objective of critically examining the long and continuous tradition of resistance in Northeast India, extending from ancient and medieval resistance against external invasions and political domination to the organised anticolonial movements against British rule. It brought together eminent historians, academicians, social scientists, literary scholars, research scholars, and students from across the country to deliberate on various dimensions of resistance movements, indigenous political traditions, cultural nationalism, grassroots mobilisation, and the intellectual heritage of the region.
