Functions and Duties

Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Adarsha Mahavidyalaya, Dalgaon is established as Govt. Model Colleges (General) under the primary components of Rashtriya Uchchattar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA). The college imparts holistic education and provides an environment that nurtures intellectual growth, creativity, and critical thinking. As the college is established in a rural location with lower Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) compared to the average GER of Assam, its primary objective is to provide quality education to the young population of the region.

(ii) The powers and duties of its officers and employees:

  • Principal: The Principal is the head of the institution with administrative responsivities and looks after the overall functioning of the college. He/ She is also authorized to carryout financial transaction such as employee salaries, bill payments, etc. in the institution as the Drawing and Disbursing Officer (DDO). He/She plays a crucial role as chairperson of various committee established in the college to guide the proper functioning of the college. He/ She prepares policies in the college for the employee and students. Preparation of Annual Confidential Report (ACR) of the staff is another important duties of the principal. The principal is also maintains the relationship with stakeholders to guide the society as well as receiving the suggestions for all round development and progress of the HEI
  • Teaching staff: One intrinsic power of being a teacher is the ability to form pupils’ personalities, which in turn shapes their future.Teaching, mentoring, and counseling students are the main responsibilities of the teaching staff. In addition to this, they also supports the students in numerous extracurricular activities, contributing to their overall growth. By performing their responsibilities as examiners, invigilators, and question-paper writers for both internal and end semester examinations, they also contribute significantly to the examination system.
  • Non-teaching staff: The principal assigns the non-teaching personnel their specific tasks and responsibilities in order to ensure proper functioning of the college.

(iii) The Procedure followed in the decision making process, including channels of supervision and accountability: The institution employs a transparent and participatory method of governance in which the majority of choices are discussed and decided upon during the different gatherings with the pertinent committees and cells, promoting a sense of collective responsibility.

(iv) The norms set by it for the discharge of its functions: The institution adheres to the norms and regulations of both the UGC and the State Government in course of carrying out its various duties and realizing its vision and mission.
