It is our immense pleasure to inform you that Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Adarsha Mahavidyalaya, Dalgaon is organising a two-day ICSSR –NERC sponsored National Seminar (Blended Mode: Both Offline and Online) on Integrating Indigenous Knowledge for Sustainable Development: Tradition, Innovation and Policymaking on 16th & 17th October,2025.

Sub Themes

  1. Traditional Ecological Knowledge and Environmental Sustainability : Indigenous biodiversity conservation practices ; Sacred groves, community forests and conservation ethics; Water harvesting practices (e.g., Zabo system, drip irrigation using bamboo etc.)
  2. Indigenous Agricultural and Food Systems : Traditional cropping patterns and organic farming ; Seed conservation, food security and climate resilience; Traditional food systems’ role in nutrition and health
  3. Indigenous Knowledge in Health and Healing Practices : Ethnomedicine and herbal healing traditions ; Integration of traditional and modern health care systems ;Indigenous well-being and community mental health practices
  4. Oral Traditions, Language, and Cultural Heritage : Oral literature’s role in maintaining IKS ; Indigenous languages as knowledge repositories ; Threats to linguistic heritage and revitalization efforts
  5. IKS and Climate Change Adaptation : Community-based resilience approaches to floods, drought and landslides ; Early warning systems and traditional weather forecasting; Case studies from tribal regions of Northeast India
  6. Case studies from tribal areas of Northeast India : Policy, Law, and Governance of Indigenous Knowledge ; Legal protection under the Forest Rights Act, Biological Diversity Act and IP Laws ; Community involvement in environmental governance
  7. Issues in mainstreaming IKS into national and state policy : Indigenous Education and Curriculum Integration ; National Education Policy 2020 and indigenous pedagogy ; Place-based and experiential learning models
  8. Role of local knowledge in higher education and research : Women and Indigenous Knowledge ; Gender roles in knowledge creation and transmission ; Women’s contributions to seed keeping, healing, and crafts
  9. Empowering indigenous women through policy and innovation : Technological Innovations Based on Indigenous Knowledge ; Low-cost indigenous technologies for livelihood and sustainability ; The role of NGOs and startups in enhancing IKS based innovation

Submission Guideline

  • An abstract should be written within 250 words including at least 4-5 keywords.
  • The prescribed word limit for the full paper is 2500-3500 words.
  • Abstract and Full paper can be submitted to seminarpduamdalgaon@gmail.com
  • The title page must clearly state the name, designation, institution’s name, contact number and e-mail ID of the author/authors.
  • Papers are to be written in English/Assamese
  • The papers should have the latest APA format comprising the following:
    Front: Times New Roman (MS Word)
    Title of paper: 14 pts
    Font Size: 12pts, Justified
    Line spacing: 1.5
  • Participants writing in Assamese are requested to use Ramdhenu software Geetanjali fonts Page Maker File.
    A hard copy of research paper should be submitted to the Organising committee during registration.
