ICSSR-NERC National Seminar

Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Adarsha Mahavidyalaya, Dalgaon of Darrang district has successfully organized a two-day National Seminar on “Integrating Indigenous Knowledge Systems for Sustainable Development: Tradition, Innovation and Policy Making” on 16- 17 October 2025. The event was sponsored by ICSSR-NERC and supported by the RAHi Foundation.

The inaugural session was graced by eminent scholar Prof. Dinesh Baishya as Chief Guest and delivered an inspiring address on the importance of traditional knowledge in policy-making. Distinguished academicians including Dr. Shyama Prasad Biswas; retired professor of Dibrugarh University, Prof . Hirendra Nath Sharma of RGU, Arunachal Pradesh and senior civil servant Ashok Barman,IAS (Rtd.) participated as resource persons and delivered thought-provoking lectures on integrating indigenous wisdom and its relevance with modern society.

The technical sessions were chaired by Dr. Budhin Hazarika, Former Principal of Kharupetia College. Dr. Sachindra Saharia, President Governing body and Mrs. Sangeeta Mazumdar of RAHI foundation took part as distinguished Guest.The second day, held virtually, witnessed the presentation of more than a hundred research papers by scholars from across India.

Dr. Lakhi Prasad Hazarika, Principal of the College was chief patron of the seminar whereas Dr. Kumar Chandan Jyoti, Asst. Professor in Political Science was convener of this seminar along with Dr. Sufian Ahmed Tapadar and Ms. Jinti Kalita as Co- convener. An ISBN-numbered abstract volume was also released to mark the occasion.
